Welcome to MyCalcWorld

MyCalcWorld exists in order to provide Calculus and College Calculus students a resource to help them become more successful in a rigorous course. MyCalcWorld contains four main sections. Be sure to begin with a solid foundation before you get too deep into Calculus by using our Foundations Page. Once you feel like you have reviewed prerequisite skills, let the real Calculus begin as you will find resources to learn all about limits in Calculus by using our Limits Page. Once you've conquered limits, you are ready for the first main branch of Calculus: the Derivatives Page. Finally, once you've mastered derivatives, you are ready for the Integral Page. Best of luck to you in your quest to conquer calculus.

Letter from a MyCalcWorld creator ...

In my 17 years of teaching Calculus, I have learned many things that I feel a Calculus student needs to know. First of all, Calculus IS a very challenging course. If you wish to master it you must be dedicated to completing homework, understanding the material, and seeking help when needed. You must do more than finish your assignments, you must be sure you fully understand the concepts.

High School Calculus is supposed to basically be equivalent to a college level calculus course. While working on my undergraduate degree, it became very apparent that calculus was one of the most commonly dropped courses due to its difficulty. Many students found the jump to calculus to be overwhelming. My intention in sharing this information is not to scare you away from calculus. I tell you these things for two reasons. First, you MUST work hard if you wish to be successful. Second, if you think calculus is hard ... tell yourself that you are normal.

In my teaching experience I have found that those students that maintain a positive attitude, work hard, and sincerely seek help when not understanding have a significant advantage over those students who whine, complain, or think that they can get away with doing a poor job with their homework. You will find throughout your experiences in Calculus that you will be required to recall many things that you should have learned in previous math classes. If you have worked hard over the past four or five years, you should find these things more easy to recall. If you have not been committed to your previous mathematics classes, have cheated in them, or have tried to simply memorize material for exams and then forget them afterwards, you will be at a significant disadvantage. Regardless of your situation, our Foundations Page is designed to review material from previous classes that become very important while learning calculus.

Best of luck to you as you begin the journey into the MyCalcWorld ...
